Hello and thanks for joining me here in my first ever weekly review, if you haven’t already read my introductory post here these reviews will be weekly posts where I take an opportunity to review the goals I set myself in the past week and hold myself not only accountable to me, but to everyone else that may come across this blog. These goals will generally fall under one of several categories; fitness, lifestyle, wellbeing, fashion or business and will align with medium or long term goals I have set myself that I would like to achieve – which I may also cover in quarterly and yearly reviews.
As I said in my introductory post however, this will be an evolving format as I experiment with what I want to include in these reviews. For this week however – since there was no post last week to set any goals to review, we are going to start by doing exactly that, setting myself three goals for the upcoming week that I will aim to complete. My first time horizon for any sort of medium term goals is quite a short one – only five or six weeks in fact – as I prepare to go on holiday in September and as such have been tailoring goals towards this event, as once I’m back I would like to view it as a fresh slate to set some new goals. With that in mind here are my three goals for the coming week.
Fitness

Given that I’m heading of somewhere warm and will be spending time with my shirt off it should come as no surprise that my first goal is fitness related. Earlier this year I completed 75 Hard (more on that to come later this week) and in doing so managed to shed a fair few pounds and drop down to my lowest weight in over 3 years. Unfortunately my plan to “lean bulk” and put a bit of muscle on before jetting off hasn’t really gone so well and I now find myself desperately trying to lose some weight again before my holiday. With that in mind my fitness goal for this week will be:
- Complete at least 60 minutes of exercise 5 days this week.
These 60 minutes don’t need to be consecutive (for example it could consist of 2x 30 minute workouts) but they have to be purposeful i.e.. they have to be done with the intention of being a workout/exercise, so if I decide to walk round to the shop because the weather’s nice the 15 minutes it takes to do this wont count towards my exercise goal.
Reading

I’m not really sure what category to put this under so I’m giving it its own heading. I’ve always been an avid reader but over the last couple of years the amount I have read hasn’t been nearly as much as I would like. I have a growing list of “want to reads” that is more consistently getting added to than it is getting taken away from. That’s why at the start of the year I began the year by aiming to read 50 pages a day every single day, and it worked, for about five and a half months. Like most things though once it slips once it becomes all too easy to let it keep slipping, so my second goal for this week is:
- Read 50 pages of a book every day.
This honestly shouldn’t be too difficult. It certainly wasn’t when I was doing it before, largely because I genuinely enjoy reading. Hopefully the act of putting it out there as one of my goals, and having to admit to everyone online if I fail will motivate me to stick to it this week.
Business

The final goal i’ll be setting in this initial weekly review is coming under the category of “business” which may seem odd given that I’ve spoken previously about how I work a normal 9-5, so what on earth is my business goals? Well this blog is my business, and by business I really mean a passion project that I am putting time and effort into outside of my usual work. With that in mind my final goal for this weeks weekly review will be:
- Write at least 1 Blog post this week (Weekly Review not included)
So my final goal will be to write more and create more posts for this blog, my goal for the moment will be to create one additional post each week on top of doing the weekly review, theses initial weeks will likely be a little bit of throwing stuff at the wall and finding what sticks as I discover what I really enjoy writing about and want to explore more in-depth, so as I have said before, please do bear with me as I realise what I want this blog to be.
The Weekly Review Round-Up
So that brings this initial weekly review to a close, next week of course we now have actual goals to review which means the format for next week will almost certainly change, that being said between now and my holiday I will likely aim to stay consistent with my weekly goals in terms of type of goal and number of goals I’m setting as I start to build my routine back up. So these initial weeks may not have the most exciting goals but hopefully you will stick with me all the same. Until next week, remember to…
Stay on the Journey
